Hapoel Jerusalem swimming association was established in 1988, in order to promote water sport activities in the city of Jerusalem and its surroundings. Our leading team is Hapoel-Jerusalem Swim that started its activities in 1989. In 1991 it clenched the national championship for the first time. Since then, Hapoel Jerusalem Swim has won the championship 20 times,  positioning itself as the leading team in Israeli swimming.

 

Since 2002, Hapoel Jerusalem holds the Israeli championship in the Triathlon competition, and in 2006 it renewed its activity also in water-polo, with the establishment of the youth swimmers club. Our synchronized swimming team is also leading this activity in the country.

 

Hapoel Jerusalem constantly participates in national and international competitions, and our athletes represent Israel in the Olympic games, European championships and in the Comen Games.

 

Among our athletes are at the present and the past:

*    Miki Halika (silver medal in the 1999 European Championship, ranked 10th in The 2000 Olympic Games).

*    Vadim Alexiev (a member in the relay team who made the finals in The 1996 Olympic Games).

*    Yoav Gath (silver medal in the 1998 Junior Europe Championship, 12th place in the 200 Olympic Games)

*    Guy Barnea (15th in The 2008 Olympic Games. bronze medalist in The 2009 University Games)

*    Gal Nevo (11th place in the 2008 Olympic Games, silver medalist in The 2009 NCAA).

*   Michael Dimitriev (5th in the 2008 European Open-Water Championship).
